Toreutics Studios Presents

CLASSROOM KITS THAT TEACH SCIENCE AND ART!

Toreutics Studios wants to bring educational kits to kids in a classroom near you! We are developing an educational supplement program, structured to feed curious minds through projects that teach science and artistic design within your own classrooms. It is our goal to expand young minds that would otherwise not have access to artistic extracurricular programs.

Inspire student interaction and problem-solving skills development, through a simple and fun metalworking workshop!  Our kits allow for your own staff of educators to guide your student groups through creating personal artworks, and combining inventions to build a classroom masterpiece!

Explore our site to learn how we plan to bring wonderful creative experiences to the students of Upstate South Carolina.

If your educational facility would like to participate in our kit program, or if you feel like you would like to get involved in helping with the advancement of this project, or even if you'd like to just learn more, please feel free to contact us via email to MagicInTheMetal@gmail.com.

MAGIC IN THE METAL

Janet Cevelin Fletcher, the creator of 'Toreutics Studios' and 'Magic In The Metal', is a sculptural artist, jeweler, and educator of nearly two decades of experience and various professional skills training.

Since early childhood, Janet felt driven to deeply study anything that interested her, so that she could share what she learned with others.  An avid fan of old books, she spent her youth reading about sciences, human history, culture, ancient art, mechanical inventions, archaeology and literature.  Her fascination with learning drove her to pursue a life of artistic study, creative practice, and education.

To see more of her work and her full bio, find the magic, below.

"HOW DID YOU MAKE THAT?"

Kids Learning About Metalworking

Metals are a fascinating and vastly useful creative medium.  It is no wonder that young people are excited to see the processes that are involved in working with metal.  In a modern world filled with technology and consumable products, it is a rare thing for young people to witness a handcraft skill, let alone have an opportunity to try their hand at it.  Through metalworking workshops, young people are exposed to work that involves the use of physics, chemistry, and mechanical forces.  Metalworking workshops also facilitate student exposure to a bit of history, problem solving, and the basics of artistic and functional design.  Most of all, hands-on workshops expose students to the value of hard work, as they experience the rewards of having a finished product to proudly show for their efforts.

CURRENTLY:

Our program is a new idea, still in development,  soon to become available to interested educational facilities as well as private educators of upstate South Carolina.

Great things grow from seeds planted in the minds of young warriors.  For this reason, it is important to provide opportunity and inspiration to teenagers who've survived domestic hardships.

Because of this, to pilot the kits program, we intend to invite a limited selection of group homes for children in the upstate area to try classroom kits COMPLETELY FREE OF CHARGE.

In order to fund this, select artworks made by Janet Cevelin Fletcher will be available through the 'Magic In The Metal' website, coming soon!  These artworks will be offered "in trade" for materials and supplies for kits for these kids.

Janet Cevelin Fletcher volunteers portions of her own studio time towards making these first free kits a reality, but would greatly appreciate any volunteers who would like to assist her in the work.  If you would like to volunteer any time, help, resources or supplies, please contact us!

If you believe your educational institution may be a good fit for consideration for a free kit, or if you would like to offer a suggestion of referral for an educational institution in your community to be considered for a free kit, please send an email to MagicIntheMetal@gmail.com containing a short letter explaining why you think the institution should be considered.

FUTURE GOALS:

Toreutics Studios hopes to expand educational kit programs and workshop offerings to service people of all ages.

Toruetics Studios is currently researching grant funding, as well as other legalities, before kicking off the kits program as open to the public.  Toreutics Studios ultimately hopes to become a not-for-profit organization with a 501C3, so that the reach of this program could expand to benefit a great many more students, in time.

Once established, Toreutics Studios would like to begin offer metalworking workshops to the general public for affordable rates. It is our intention to offer deep discounts to homeschooling groups as well as high-school students that are building portfolios for gaining acceptance to art education centers and art colleges.

As our programs are completed by more and more classrooms, we hope to build a blog to showcase a collection of happy classes and their finished projects!

Please check back at this website often for continual updates on the growth of this project!
